Protein tracker with a barcode scanner

Use the barcode on packaged food to find its protein information. Check the matching product, then enter the amount you ate to calculate your portion.

Scanning needs camera permission. Online product lookups need internet; coverage varies by product and country. Check available access and purchase options in the app.

A 45 g portion of a protein bar

Example: a label with 50 g protein per 100 g gives 22.5 g protein in a 45 g portion. These are illustrative values, not a live product lookup.
How it works →

1. Scan the packaging

Open the barcode scanner and point the camera at the product code. Protio first checks saved products, then can look online in Open Food Facts and USDA.

2. Compare with the label

Check the product name and protein per 100 g against your packaging. Recipes and database records can change; the source is shown with the result.

3. Enter your portion

Enter the grams you ate, rather than assuming a whole pack. Review the calculated protein and confirm the entry for your day.

What if the barcode is not found?

Scan the nutrition label, search for the food or create a product manually. When the label uses a serving or package basis, you need its gram weight to convert it to values per 100 g.
