Overview

Protio is an offline-first protein tracker. Your core tracking data stays on your device. Some features use network requests: anonymous diagnostics, barcode lookup, online food search, purchases, and AI meal photo analysis.

Data storage

Your entries, settings, favorites, and weight logs are stored locally in an embedded database on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers.

Camera

Camera access is used for barcode scanning and, if you choose it, AI meal photo analysis. Barcode scanning does not save or send photos or videos.

Network

Network access is used for anonymous diagnostics, barcode lookups through Open Food Facts, optional online food search through Open Food Facts/USDA, purchases through the app stores, and AI meal photo analysis through the Protio proxy.

Analytics and crash reports

Protio collects anonymous crash reports through Sentry and basic usage statistics through Aptabase, such as which screens are opened, so the app can be improved. Food entries, meal photos, accounts, and profiles are not included. There are no ads.

Data deletion

If you delete the app, your local data is removed with it. There is no cloud backup and no recovery.

Website

This website does not use cookies, tracking, or analytics tools. For security reasons, the hosting provider may log IP addresses and timestamps as part of standard server operation. We do not build user profiles from that data.
